the life you’ve always wanted

Learning the secrets to living the life you’ve always wanted is possible, but might look different than you think. Let’s learn how together!

WEEK 1

Trying will never replace the need for training.

MAKE THIS MESSAGE WORK IN YOUR LIFE

ORDER THIS BOOK - The Life You’ve Always Wanted - Spiritual Disciplines For Ordinary People by John Ortberg

READ - Read 1 Timothy 4:7-8 and 1 Corinthians 9:24-27. What principle do you see?

ASK - Do you see yourself more often as self-powered over spirit-powered? Why or why not? Do you start strong but then fade off in your pursuit of God? Do you sense joy, possibility, freedom in learning how to train spiritually or something else?

PRAY - Ask God to help you see liberation, joy, and hope in your pursuit of Him.

WEEK 2

My life moves in the direction of my strongest thoughts.

MAKE THIS MESSAGE WORK IN YOUR LIFE

Download / Open the Go Church app. Under the Latest section open up Godly Declarations. Memorize one verse. When life happens (stress, complaint, frustration, fear) quote the verse and think about it for 10 seconds. Ponder the verse, and proclaim the verse over your life. The truth will set you free.

WEEK 3

I can have stuff but stuff can’t have me.

MAKE THIS MESSAGE WORK IN YOUR LIFE

Download / Open the Go Church app. Under the Latest section open up Simplicity. Make use of the daily readings and the questions that will challenge you to think and grow.

WEEK 4

We are better together.

MAKE THIS MESSAGE WORK IN YOUR LIFE

Read: Acts 2:42-47.

Ask: Where do I see worship, witness, fellowship, discipleship and prayer in Acts 2:42-47?

Reflect & Respond: How can you push into community? What part of Richard Foster’s quote stirs you? Stop and imagine how you could learn from other people’s stories, successes, failures, strengths and weaknesses? You won’t learn from others, and they will never learn from you, if you live life alone.

WEEK 5

I can’t live the right life with the wrong friends.

MAKE THIS MESSAGE WORK IN YOUR LIFE

Read: All the Scriptures referenced in this message.

Ask: Do you think your friends influence you? What are the implications of your answer?

Reflect & Respond: What are your main excuses to resist doing life together (work, kid sports, just don’t want to)? Pray, tell God how you feel, ask Him to show you the next step for your life (read and realize this from Scripture, open yourself to the leading of Holy Spirit which will ALWAYS be in sync with the Bible).

WEEK 6

Communication creates connection.

MAKE THIS MESSAGE WORK IN YOUR LIFE

Read: Matthew 6.

Ask: What principles do you see about prayer, fasting, worry, and money?

Reflect & Respond: What time will you set to pray (morning, evening, after lunch)? Put the time in your calender and treat it like an important appointment. This gives you an opportunity to tell someone, “I’m sorry I can’t meet you at that time I have an appointment.” What place will you go - your favorite chair, short walk outside, back porch? Pick a place with minimal distractions.
